About

Founded in 2008, the Toronto Etsy Street Team is a collection of artists, artisans, handmakers, vintage and art supply sellers who sell online on Etsy.com and who live and work in Toronto. Our community comes together to support each other, share information and to host craft shows, art shows, and social events.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: What is the Toronto Etsy Street Team?

A: The Toronto Etsy Street Team (TEST) is a collective of on-line shops located in Toronto, Ontario Canada.

All of our shops sell on Etsy the international, on-line marketplace for handmade goods, vintage items and art & craft supplies. Our sellers include artists, designers, craftspeople, purveyors of vintage goods or supplies. Find out more via our T.E.S.T. Forum on Etsy

We share information, support one another, and get together in real-life (not just on-line) for events which include sales, workshops and social events.  We are an entirely volunteer-run, not-for-profit organization.

Q: Are you Etsy? Are you affiliated or do you work for Etsy?

A: No.

We are customers and fans of Etsy. We sell goods on Etsy. While we sometimes have the opportunity to collaborate with their staff, we do not work for or speak for Etsy. We are an entirely volunteer-run, not-for-profit organization. Please direct any questions for Etsy to Etsy itself or one of their administrators. You can find the Canadian Community Manager at the link.

If you wish to apply for a job please, do not contact us. We cannot help you.

Q: I sell handmade or vintage goods and live in or near Toronto, but I'm not on the team. Can I be in your TEST craft shows?

A: No, sorry.

We organize shows for our members. If you would like to apply to the team, please visit the T.E.S.T. Forum on Etsy.

Q: I sell handmade/vintage/supplies on Etsy and live in Toronto. Can I be on the team?

A: We'd love to have you! Please apply at the  T.E.S.T. Forum on Etsy.

Q: I sell handmade/vintage/supplies in Toronto, but I don't sell on Etsy. Can I be on the team?

A: Sorry, but no.

Sellers who do not sell on Etsy are outside our mandate.
If you're thinking that selling on-line sounds like a great idea, follow this link to open an Etsy shop with 20 free listings!

Q: I sell handmade/vintage/supplies on Etsy and live in Southern Ontario outside the city (or anywhere other than Toronto). Can I be on the team?

A: Sorry, but no.

Sellers who live outside the city are beyond our mandate. We are very happy to share information with you, let you know about shows in Toronto, post your vendor calls for shows in or adjacent to Toronto, but we do need to set a boundary. There are many other fabulous teams in Ontario! At the link, we hope you'll find the right one for you. If there is some other way we can help you, just let us know.

To the sellers who live in other provinces or countries and wish to join our team - we're flattered but confused. We're sorry, but we can't help you.

Q: I have a question about an item I saw or bought on Etsy. Can you help?

A: Your best bet is to contact the owner of the shop directly.

Each listing and each shop have handy blue buttons to let you contact the individual owner directly.

Q: I'm organizing an art/craft/vintage show in (or near) Toronto. Will you help get the word out about the vendor call?

A: Yes! Please FILL IN OUR SUBMISSION FORM ABOVE.

And no, you do not need to be a member of our team. We will gladly put out vendor calls for any art show, craft sale or vintage show in or around Toronto, regardless.

Q: I'm throwing an event in Toronto. Will you advertise it for me?

A: No. We are not a free PR service. Sorry.

As a rule, we're here to promote our team. If you have TEST members participating, we'll gladly report on your event. We do not promote any and all events in the city as that would be a full-time job (and we already have several). If your event has nothing to do with handmade items, vintage goods or art & craft supplies, you're in the wrong place.

Q: I'm looking for a certain, specific type of handmaker in Toronto. Can you help?

A: We'll do our best.

We have over 1400 members, so it's reasonably likely that at least one of our members can make exactly what you are looking for!  You may also wish to search Etsy directly. Simply describe the item in the search bar and be sure to set location to Toronto, ON, Canada. You can also browse our showcase, on the Showcase tab above.

Q: Can I advertise on your blog? Will you promote my business?

A: No, sorry. We don't do that.

(Team members who wish to learn more about what your team can do for you should inquire in the  T.E.S.T. Forum on Etsy). Also, we will remove spam from comments, so, why not save yourself the trouble and avoid attempting to post spam here? That means you, vaguely-positive-message-with-embedded-links commenter. Yeah, you know who you are. Kindly find somewhere else to try to dupe the search engines.

Q: Will you send your Street Team to act as a road crew for my construction site?

A: No. We aren't that type of "street team".

You're in the wrong place. Knit cozies for your hardhats, paint murals on your hoardings, or do graphic design for your signage maybe...

Q: Can I write for your blog?

A: If you're on the team, please contact one of the team leaders at the links above! If not, no.

Q: Why haven't heard back. What gives?

A:  Sorry if we haven't replied promptly!

Please note, we are an entirely volunteer-run, not-for-profit organization. We do our utmost to answer all correspondence in a timely way. Sometimes it may take us a few days. Occasionally, email messages do go astray or get caught by an over-zealous spam filter. You may also contact the team leaders directly, at the links above.
